Phnom Penh Gets Modern Hospital Equipped to Handle Epidemics

PHNOM PENH: The Techo Santepheap National Hospital was officially inaugurated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on the morning of October 24, under the presidency of Prime Hun Manet.

Located on Kanchana Blvd. in Phnom Penh’s Prek Pnov District, the new hospital is comprised of 11 buildings, including an administration building and a supply building for staff, the main hospital and an emergency room. The hospital has a capacity of 9,496 beds.

The construction of this hospital started with a Buddhist blessing on February 14, 2022 and was completed in just over a year. It was built on 7.58 hectares by privately-owned CJEC Construction Company Ltd with the cooperation of the Phnom Penh Capital Administration.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the state hospital will not only service the people of Phnom Penh, but also people from the surrounding areas in need of medical care.

He encouraged the public to receive medical services at the hospital, as it is large-scale, meets international standards and is equipped with the latest medical equipment.

Minister of Health Chheang Ra said that the hospital employs 698 people, including 40 with specialized doctoral degrees, 126 with general doctoral degrees, 19 pharmacists, 201 nurses, 84 midwives and 28 laboratory technicians.

According to the Minister of Health, the hospital also has a helipad for emergency patients.
